There are several but usually there is a waiting period after you buy a policy before it will take effect. If the company covers pre-existing conditions that is a good thing. Some people can’t get insurance at all if they are already seeing a doctor for a problem.

If your Mom gets sick a lot, you are probably going to have a hard time finding her insurance unless she goes to work for some LARGE company that has “group insurance.”

Most companies that write individual health insurance would exclude “pre-existing conditions” for normally two years or more, depending on the ailment.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
