They said the federal government pays for anyone who doesn’t have health insurance until they are 25. I’m looking for something affordable. How can I tell if a health insurance company is a legitimate one?

rain shower asked: I live in New York but also rent an apartment in Connecticut. I am not a signatory on the lease (I rent a room in a friend’s apartment), but sometimes stay there for work. The premiums for health insurance are much lower in Connecticut than they are in New York, and I was wondering if I could sign up for health insurance there. I know I would only be covered in Connecticut. Is this something I could do and if so, what kind of documentation would I need to provide to prove my Connecticut residency? Thanks

I don’t wanna get into paying someone a lot of money and than end up with them only covering some health problems, or some portions. This world is so screwed up! Aren’t there any good people in the government today who’d help poor students like me with their health? I sware I’m gonna vote for Hillary!

AK asked: I was denied new health insurance coverage in May 2007 because of lower back pain in January 2007 for which I received physical therapy. I have had continuous health insurance coverage for more than 2 years with no history of back ailments. If I reapply again now (for coverage starting in September), am I likely to be denied again? Is there anything I can do about it? My group coverage through work is very costly, and I’d prefer to have a more affordable plan.

three_holepunch_haircut asked: I am about to turn 23, and I will not be eligible on my parent’s insurance plan anymore and I am now looking for new health insurance. My school does have an insurance plan, but it is $1800 annually. This seems pretty expensive to me. I am on no prescription medications with no preexisting conditions, and I am not overweight. I live in the Overland Park, KS area. Would you suggest applying online, or could you give any recommendations for websites?

burtongrl asked: If I was in a car accident and my health insurance pays all but $2000 (lets say) of my medical bills and my car insurance has a 100,000 benefit for accidental injury while in my vehicle, does it really only pay out the $2,000? and does that money go right to the hospital?
What if I want something that would pay me a lump sum to my home, like enough to replace my income while I can’t work due to the injury?

simy83 asked: I am currently under a foreign policy from my homecountry and I need to sign up for health insurance in the US. My employer is willing to sponser me. However, I am not eligible for a group plan because my only other coworker is insured thru his wife. Is there an individual policy out there that allows me to have the premium taken out of my paycheck pre-tax? Also, any hints on how get a good deal on health insurance without getting hundreds of calls from agents? I already turned my phone off.
